A huge thank you to Goldman Sachs for funding Wednesday’s Corporate Clean Up Day, and sending along 10 members of their team of which 4 members are Veterans themselves.
The Corporate Clean Up Day that took place on April 9th was in partnership with South East Rivers Trust and run by 6 SWV Veterans who led the way with the hard work. Together everyone worked to clear 1km of the beautiful River Wandle, I of 4 chalk waterways that runs through London and providing essential habitat for UK wildlife.
During the day the Veterans shared their stories, speaking about the importance of support, and South East Rivers Trust explained more about their ongoing work and plight to improve the health of the UK waterways. This all tied in nicely the soon-to-be-launched Veteran Rivers Task Force which aims to employ veterans to monitor river pollution and tackle associated problems with our first project on the River Dart.
The day also provided the opportunity for all of the Veterans to network and make further contacts, and on a practical level was also a great success as the mixed teams of Goldman Sachs and SWV Veterans removed all rubbish resulting in a full Council trailer!
